Roy
LaGrone
is an American artist whose recent work employs imaging
technologies in the production of photomontage, video installations
and
animations. While formally concerned with shifting scale relationships
--
fabricating a dramatic sense of depth and movement to the surface --
most of
his works are centered on transforming discarded objects, places and
entities
into sacred projections. Recurrent concerns are 21st Century displacement
recycling, and universal becoming.
I am questioning whether todays technology can be optimized
to produce
holistic models of healing, empowerment and transcendence, said
LaGrone.
His
work has been shown at numerous venues including the Smithsonian
Institution; SIGGRAPH; the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans; and
the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library and Museum, Austin.
The artist
currently lives and works in Italy.
